Jon was born in Reading, PA and moved to Washington Twp, NJ at a young age and now currently resides in Pitman. He has a wonderful daughter, Grace, a new fiancé, Faith and they will be tying the knot in the fall of 2019! So he, being surrounded by Grace and Faith can’t help but be blessed by his Heavenly Father! Jon owns his own carpentry / construction company, called JRM Enterprises which has been blessed by God with steady work for many years. Jon’s favorite things to do include boating, woodworking and learning to play the piano. His favorite vacation spots are Lake Gaston, NC and Hawaii.
Jon has served God in many different capacities. At The Rock Church, he is currently our head Deacon and teacher for our Christian Basics classes. In the past he has been a Sunday school teacher and has helped with building & grounds maintenance. He’s been on several Mission trips including ones to Jamaica with YWAM, Katrina relief in New Orleans and in West Virginia with “Erin’s Gift of Hope”
Jon is also a volunteer Fireman, who works with the Camden Rescue Mission and Pitman Food Pantry as well as serving on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity and the Pitman Art Gallery. (Phew!) As you can see he is always on the go and does everything with a great attitude and a heart for God! Jon has a real heart for the lost and is always quick to share the love of Jesus with them! A real evangelist’s heart! We’re so glad he’s part of our Rock Church Family!
I grew up in Mullica Hill, NJ and currently live in Swedesboro with my wife Tonya and 2 children, Ella (8) and Jonathan (4). I work for Enterprise Rent a Car as a Vehicle Acquisition Supervisor in Philadelphia, PA. I have been working for them since graduating from Millersville University in PA in 2003 for 16 years!! WOW! I’ve been celebrating our Savior Jesus at the Rock Church since I starting dating my wife around 2000, so it has been about 20 years. I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic Church for most of my younger life until I fell in Love with Tonya. She introduced me to the fabulous people at The Rock and now I feel complete when I attend service. WOW! What an AWESOME GOD we have!!
Not much in the way of testimonies, but I would say that both Ella and Jon are my biggest testimonies. They’re fantastic kids (on most days...hah-aha) Along with my wonderful wife. She inspires me to do my very best each day and is a wonderful, loving mother to our kiddos. That is a testimony in itself! I am a Deacon at The Rock, which I thoroughly enjoy and also teach the senior class for Sunday school. Those kids are GREAT and such an inspiration. A few of my favorite scriptures include Ephesians 4:29 and Matthew 6: 30-33. Both of these scriptures have made a significant impact on my work life along with my home life. WOW what an Awesome GOD we serve!!
My name is Cara Foy, I'm married to Dennis and we have 3 children, Tiffany, Andrew & Chris and 4 grandchildren. I've been at The Rock for 20 yrs. Tiffany's friend Trish Volpe invited her to church and she went. When Tiffany came home she asked me to go with her. How could I say no. When I walked into the church I was greeted with a big warm hug from Miriam Pitts. I had never been in a church that hugged. I love hugs and I knew then I was where I needed to be.
I'm a Deacon, I help in the nursery and also greet and help in the kitchen whenever needed. Anything that goes on in the church I'm usually involved. I love to serve and remember when I was getting Bibles together for an outreach the church was doing, Pastor Don said to me "You have a servant's heart". At first I got offended because of the word Servant. Connie had to explain what that meant. This church has helped me so much in my walk with the Lord. When I look back and see how much better my life is, all because He brought me to this church. This family has done so much in my growth, any question I ever had or have, someone here is always able to help in finding an answer.
I was born in Camden, NJ and grew up in Westmont. I moved to Deptford, NJ with my husband, John about 28 years ago. We have six children, 21 grandchildren (including two sets of twins!) and 1 great grandson! Just call us the Mega Brady Bunch! I recently retired my nursing shoes after 38 years. I started my career working in the Emergency Room at West Jersey Hospital in Camden, before they became Virtua having worked in several departments there over the years and ended my career working in the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center, now in Voorhees, NJ. I was the Center's very 1st Nationally Certified Hyperbaric Technologist!
I have been at the Rock Church since the early nineties. I am currently serving as a Deaconess there and work in the Nursery as part of the Sunday school program. I’ve always loved helping in the kitchen whenever we have functions in our all-purpose room. In the past we did a Senior Citizen lunch and currently serve pastors and their wives at our Ziklag breakfast meetings. The church has many fundraiser events, anniversary, birthday and other parties that I help in the kitchen with. Always a pleasure to serve God any way I can!
John Barrett was born in Abbington, PA and grew up in Sewell, NJ. He currently lives in Sewell with his wife, Christine, whom he has been happily married to for 20 years! John owns his own carpentry & construction business, while Christine is a nurse. They are huge beach fans and spend time on the Ocean City & Cape May, NJ beaches, most summer weekends. John loves to work out in his home gym to burn off the calories from enjoying “all foods”, especially cookies! He is a sports fan of all things Philly!
John grew up knowing his Savior, Jesus, and while walking away for a short time, came back to the Lord in 2008. He served in his church in Bridgeton, NJ, working in the “soup kitchen” they ran, feeding the people who needed help. In 2014 he and Christine came to the Rock Church and has been faithful members here ever since. John is one of our Deacons and helps with building maintenance. His favorite scriptures are Psalms 34 & 91 and Jeremiah 29: 11.
